On a similar note to the house bra idea, at least in the Southern USA I believe it would be a worthwhile seasonal device to be adapted for autos parked out in the open sun. Our GM vehicle suffered massive damage to its interior trim due to solar heating, which could have been avoided had we garaged it. We had neither a garage nor an overhang, but a piece of metalized, uv-stabilized polyester film laminated with an insulating, non-absorbent, weather-resistant layer, would probably have kept the temperatures to tolerable levels within the car. Common metal-oxide magnetic strips, or embedded elastic strips with hood trim clips, could hold it on.
